En una reciente entrevista con San Antonio Metal Music Examiner, Dane se le preguntó por qué se ha optado por reformar a SANCTUARY después de 20 años, especialmente con NEVERMORE en un buen momento. Reunited SANCTUARY Performs Live For First Time; Video Available - Jan. 22, 2011
Reunited '80s cult metal outfit SANCTUARY, which features in its ranks current NEVERMORE frontman Warrel Dane and bassist Jim Sheppard, played its first U.S. show in more than 20 years last night (Saturday, January 21) at El Corazon in Seattle, Washington.

SANCTUARY's current touring lineup also includes NEVERMORE guitarist Jeff Loomis.
In a recent interview with the San Antonio Metal Music Examiner, Dane was asked why he has chosen to reform SANCTUARY after 20 years, especially with NEVERMORE doing so well. "Well, I said years ago that it would never, ever, ever fucking happen, but that was at a time when we weren't really friendly with each other," he replied. "But we are now. 'Water under the bridge' would be the best way to describe our relationship, and I've heard some of the new material Lenny [Rutledge], the guitar player, has been working on, and it's fucking killer. So I had to re-evaluate the situation. It's kinda weird, because NEVERMORE has been doing so well."
When asked if SANCTUARY's upcoming appearance on the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise — which is set to sail from Miami, Florida to Cozumel, Mexico on January 24 and return four days later — will be a one-off reunion thing or if the band has plans to work on a new studio album, Dane said, "We're gonna do another record, but I'm not sure when we're going to have time because the touring cycle for NEVERMORE just started, and it's going to get crazy. (Guitarist) Sean (Blosl) didn't really want to do it basically, so Jeff [Loomis; NEVERMORE guitarist], who was actually a member of SANCTUARY at the end, is going to do it live. I'm not sure he'll be recording, though. That band was about Lenny, and NEVERMORE was more about Jeff, so we try to keep both of those separate."
